Working Methods
One of the principles I use as a foundation, a basis for beginning all work as well as a gauge by which to measure the finished work is that each design must create a whole of disparate elements, must create order, without wiping out character, those peculiar qualities which make a piece unique and give it personality. While sifting and distilling in order to create an essential clarity in any message is a large part of the job, allowing it to breathe and take on a life of its own is equally important and allows for communication to take place on many levels at once - which is to say that it appeals to the imagination, to memory, to all of the senses.
Good design tells a story.
Another principle is that design is an ongoing process of discovery and communication and so works best, grows best in an environment of ongoing relationships.
Good design is a byproduct of good dialogue, good conversation.
